Placenta Encapsulation
A carefully prepared postpartum option for mothers who choose it.
Your postpartum. Your choices.
Placenta encapsulation fits naturally into my larger philosophy: mothers deserve information, respect, and room to make personal choices about their own pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience.
Many mothers choose encapsulation because they hope it may support mood, energy, recovery, iron status, or milk supply. Research has found that processed placenta capsules can retain measurable hormones and iron, and surveys have found that many users report positive experiences. Research has not established placenta encapsulation as a treatment for postpartum conditions, so I offer it as a personal postpartum option rather than a medical therapy.
Careful, traditional-style preparation
I take the handling and preparation of each placenta seriously. My training and work practices are informed by OSHA bloodborne-pathogen precautions, with careful sanitation and handling throughout the process.
My preparation is inspired by traditional Chinese-style placenta preparation and includes steaming with lemon and ginger before dehydration and encapsulation. Each placenta is handled individually with careful attention to preparation, cleanliness, and storage.
Postpartum is a time to receive care
I believe women can take a more active, informed role in pregnancy and birth—and then be asked to do far less alone after the baby arrives. Postpartum should be a season when community moves toward the mother: bringing food, protecting her rest, helping with the baby and household, and giving her space to recover.
Placenta encapsulation is only one optional piece of that larger picture. My postpartum support is centered on caring for the mother as a whole person, not asking her to prove how much she can handle.
Placenta encapsulation is a personal choice and is not intended to diagnose, prevent, or treat a medical condition or replace medical care. If you have questions about whether it is appropriate for your circumstances, discuss them with your maternity or medical provider.
