Childbirth Education for Your Birth

Understand birth. Ask the questions you actually have. Prepare for the birth you’re planning.

These personalized classes grew from my original Freebirth/DIY Birth course, but the heart of the program has always been bigger than any one birth setting: helping mothers and their support people understand childbirth deeply enough to participate confidently in their own experience.

Whether you’re planning a hospital birth, birth center birth, midwife-attended home birth, considering unassisted birth, or simply want to be better prepared if birth does not go exactly according to plan, the course is adapted to your situation and questions.

What We Can Cover

  1. How labor and birth work, including the role of hormones
  2. Understanding stages of labor and common variations
  3. Comfort, relaxation, movement, environment, and coping tools
  4. How a partner or support person can actually help
  5. Communicating preferences, asking questions, and making informed decisions
  6. Birth supplies and practical preparation for your chosen setting
  7. Common “what if?” situations, warning signs, and when professional or emergency care may be needed
  8. Cesarean and VBAC topics, where relevant to your situation
  9. The immediate hours after birth and the third stage
  10. Postpartum care for mother and baby

Personal, Not One-Size-Fits-All

My original course was built as ten customized sessions for the mother and her support person. That individualized approach remains central: we can spend more time on what matters to you and less time on what you already know. An accelerated schedule can also be considered when a due date is close.

“I recommend this course to anyone who wants to be better educated about birth in general, no matter your plans.”

— Amy, past class participant

“Overall, I feel much more confident now than I did when we started the class.”

— Brian, past class participant

Childbirth education is educational and does not replace individualized medical advice, diagnosis, prenatal care, or emergency care.
